2 Timothy 4-5 HCSB
“I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and because of His appearing and His kingdom: Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching. For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new. They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. But as for you, be serious about everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
We are commanded to proclaim the Gospel even when we do not feel like it. We must encourage, correct, and warn our brother’s and sister’s in Christ; we must keep them, and ourselves, on the narrow path to God.
We are warned of the false teachers: the ones who will twist the Scriptures by cherry-picking the verses they like while throwing away the ones they do not; the ones who will twist the Scriptures to conform to man’s desire instead of God’s will; the ones who will proclaim right is wrong and wrong is right; the ones who preach man’s definition of love and not God’s; the ones who do not speak of God’s anger or wrath; the ones who would kick Jesus out of their ‘churches’ if He walked in today because He would turn over their tables because of their blasphemies.
As children of God, we will suffer persecution, trials, and tribulations; we will be attacked, physically, verbally, and mentally. However, know this: we who persevere and keep the gift of Salvation sacred and do not set it aside; we who truly believe in our Saviour; we who equip ourselves with the Armour of God and never take it off – we will fulfill our ministries and reap the reward Jesus promised His children.
Stay the course and do not waiver; repent daily and take the fight to the devil!
