Happy Father’s Day

To all the fathers out there, today is your day; today is the day your children say thank you for being their father.  But today is something else; today is the day that should remind fathers that they have been given the blessings of being the caretakers to the next generation of fathers and mothers.

In Psalm 127:3, Solomon states, “Sons are indeed a heritage from the LORD, children a reward.”, and in Proverbs 22:6 it is stated, “Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”  Fathers, your sons are your heritage, how you teach and rule them is how they will teach and rule their children.  Fathers, how you present yourselves to your daughters will determine who they will choose as their future husbands; daughters will marry men like their fathers, so set the example and raise the bar.  Fathers, you are raising the future, you have the ability to change what is going on around us today, you have been entrusted by God to raise your children right.

Fathers, never forget to teach your children about the greatest Father of all, our heavenly Father.  In Psalm 139:13-16, David tells us, “For it was You who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made.  Your works are wonderful, and I know this very well.  My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.”  Fathers, God formed you from the beginning, you were made in His image, and you are His child; God has given you the Playbook by which to live your life, all you have to do is follow the teachings of the Bible and all else will fall into place.

And lastly but certainly not least, remember the greatest Gift given to us from our heavenly Father: in John 3:16-18, Jesus, the Son of God and our Lord and Saviour, says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.”  Today I ask all fathers to teach their children about the greatest Father’s day gift to His children, the greatest gift of all, the gift of Salvation to those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour; teach your children about this Gift, teach them about God’s love and mercy, teach them about God’s Son, teach them about Jesus Christ.
