Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord, for the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body. Now as the church submits to Christ, so wives are to submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word.
To be biblically submissive is not a negative thing; we are all commanded to be submissive to the Lord.
What Paul is saying here is that the wives must trust their husbands to make the right decisions, and to follow what their husbands say as long as it does not go against the teachings of our Lord and Saviour.
Paul then goes on to tell the husbands that they are to love their wives and to not be bitter to them; husbands are to treat their wives with respect and love.
Nowhere in the Bible are wives instructed to love their husbands, only to obey them; however, husbands are told to love their wives, and love is the greatest gift of the Holy Spirit.
